Essential Oils

Essential oils are a wonderful addition to pregnancy, labor, postpartum and many are safe to use on newborns. They also are great to incorporate in your everyday life.

safe for baby (1 day – 2 years old)  - dilute 1:30 with a carrier oil

safe for young child (2 – 5 years old)  - dilute 1:30 with a carrier oil

safe for child (5+) - dilute 1:15 with a carrier oil to start

diffuse a few drops of essential oil for 10-20 minute for baby/young child to start

 

Clary Sage

A single essential oil with an herbaceous aroma that is believed to create a calm and relaxing environment making it a perfect choice for supporting a normal, healthy attitude during PMS. It is also supportive for menopausal women.

Use For:

supports uterine function in labor

decreases milk supply

female hormonal support

relieves occasional stress

promotes a relaxing feeling

Use cautiously in pregnancy – not recommend using until at least 38 weeks

 

Copaiba

A single essential oil with a sweet aroma that may reduce pain, promote wellness and boost respiratory health.

(safe for baby/child)

 Use For:

calms babies crying for long periods of time occurring daily

soothes swollen/irritated gums

supports healthy respiration

supports healthy bowel function

relief of occasional heartburn/indigestion

helps alleviate minor aches/pains

 

Eucalyptus radiata

(safe for child)

An essential oil with a mildly pungent, sweet, and fruity aroma

Use For:

encourages proper nasal function

purifying

cleansing

 

Fennel –

An essential oil

Use For:

supports milk supply production

supports digestive system

Use cautiously in pregnancy – fennel should be limited

 

Ginger:

An essential oil with a delicious, spicy aroma.

Use for:

occasional nausea associated with pregnancy

helps alleviate minor aches/pains

digestive support

stamina

 

Jasmine:

An absolute oil that has a warm, exotic, floral fragrance that relaxes, soothes, uplifts, and enhances self-confidence. Jasmine is beneficial for the skin. It has been used throughout history for romance and attraction and for balancing the feminine energy.

Use for:

occasional nervous irritability

improves self confidence

 

Lavender -

An essential oil that has a fresh, uplifting floral aroma. It’s this dynamic aroma that has made the flower a classic for perfumes, soaps, fresheners, and beauty products. A great beginner oil and a must for every home.  Calming to the skin and soothes emotional well being.

Lemon -

An essential oil that is cold-pressed from the rinds of lemons, giving its aroma all the brightness of the freshly picked fruit.

cleanses digestive system

cleansing and detoxifying

Caution - can cause photosensitivity, avoid applying to exposed skin before spending time outside.

 

Peppermint -

An essential oil that is fresh, nostalgic, and instantly recognizable Peppermint oil creates a cool, tingling sensation on the skin.

(safe for young child)

Use For:

GI system discomfort

supports normal digestion

promotes healthy bowel function

occasional acid indigestion

occasional constipation

occasional diarrhea

relaxation for minor head tension

decreases milk supply

relief of occasional nausea associated with pregnancy
